There have been many changes in this industry over the years; one of the biggest has been virtualization technology.  There are many considerations when selecting a platform for IBM Cognos TM1.  TM1 uses NUMA or Non-Uniform Memory Access.  You may have heard this term before but understanding the effects and how it will relate to TM1 can help you make that decision.

With two major types of Parallel Architectures that are prevalent in the industry; Distributed Memory Architecture and Shared Memory Architecture.

Shared Memory has two types: Uniform Memory Access (UMA), and Non-Uniform Memory Access (NUMA).

Cognos Express TM1 Powershell recycle script

IBM Cognos TM1

A number of things to consider when implementing your IBM Cognos TM1 environment.  TM1 is an in-memory OLAP engine which will leverage large amounts of contiguous memory on your system.  In order for your IBM Cognos TM1 Models/Applications to be at their best we recommend leveraging PowerShell to recycle and notify you of any issues with your TM1 Models.

To ensure that your are getting the most of your TM1 applications ensure you schedule your recycle script at least weekly.

IBM Cognos Analytics 11 RC 5 SSO Tips & Tricks

I was recently configuring IBM Cognos Analytics and IBM Cognos Planning Analytics 2.0 for a new customer.  They requested Single Sign On.  While I was somewhat skeptical it would  even work as I have had a 50% success rate with SSO and Cognos 11 from the base release.
